From February to May of 2024 (in just 4 months) the City of Waco spilled Millions of Gallons of Raw Sewage into Lake Waco and into the Brazos River. So let's just not...
It is plainly a bad idea to put our Billion Dollar Brazos in the direct line for a catastrophic sewage hazmat nightmare. Some things are out of our control- this one isn't one of them. It's a simple choice.
Join the community in demanding that Waco protect the Brazos
Ask elected officials to publicly commit to protecting the Brazos by abandoning this site and to commit to no sewage on the shores of the Brazos upstream from our downtown.
This should be really easy-
Doesn't cost a penny.
No laws need to be changed.
No one is ignored for the greater good.
Feels good to keep the free public greenspaces green instead of brown.
Sewage Plant on the Brazos is unpopular with everyone- local & non-locals.
Sewage Plant on the Brazos isn't even in the engineering or permit phase yet according to the City.
Sewage Plant on the Brazos is expensive, it's in the floodplain & it will be a disaster.
How do you help?
No matter where you live, at the very least email the Mayor & City Council members:
It is the council members who vote yes or no to approve this plan.
They vote on the record & do listen to those who care enough to speak up. They are accountable to the citizens for what they choose to spend our money on.
If you live in McLennan County, click here to find your Precinct and email your County Commissioner or any one of them- they have influence and a voice in many big ticket projects.
If you are a Texan or a visitor or just a concerned human who wants to help preserve the our shrinking greenspaces, then click here to find your state reps and email them. Politicians work together and no one likes a terrible idea.
If the City doesn't publicly abandon this plan- We will form a coalition to file necessary legal actions and take other logical steps to prohibit any sewage plant on this stretch of the Brazos.
To keep downtown Waco & the Brazos riverfront parks safe from sewage, share this website and email other elected reps.
If you would like to be informed by Email of any news or information on the Brazos River Sewer Plant, send an email to: info@ProtectBrazos.com to be informed of legal and city updates on this issue.
